Goliath, Season 4

(Amazon Prime Video)

Two-fisted attorney Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton, 66) goes after a billionaire opioid merchant (J.K. Simmons, 66) in the lively, lurid final season of this noir series. McBride now lives in San Francisco’s Chinatown, where his sardonically loyal partner Patty (the brilliant, winsome Nimãng cầu Arianda) has a job at a big firm, và the show has stylish echoes of Chinatown and Rear Window. Billy"s intermittent hallucinations look cool, too. The superb supporting cast keeps getting better: Simmons is as sizzling as you’d expect, và does a tuy vậy and dance number that parodies the actual peppy TV ads that helped launch the opioid crisis. (Simmons played Nathan Detroit’s sharp best pal in Broadway’s Guys và Dolls, so he’s terrific.) Bruce Dern, 85, plays Simmons’ estranged brother, and Jena Malone plays Patty’s trùm. A terrific show, and you don’t need lớn know the previous seasons’ twisty plots lớn get into lớn the surrealistic yet Grisham-esque flow.
