If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Klairs products. Everything I’ve tried so far has been good, if not excellent and on my HG list. So when Wishtrend contacted me to try out the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop, I was like, um, heck yes!

*

The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop comes in a small clear dropper bottle. It looks expensive, but it’s actually plastic, which can be good for the accident prone. Unfortunatelythe silver label has rubbed off, and it’s still rubbing off as I’ll see silver flakes on my fingers whenever I use this. As a big packaging snob I was a little disappointed by this, but let’s move on to the actual product.

So there are a couple good ingredients in here, mostly plant extracts with soothing and moisturizingproperties. It also includes 5% ascorbic acid, aka Vitamin C, which has antioxidant and brightening properties. The 5% is also a lower dosage than the popular C20 Vitamin C Serum, so it’ll be less irritating for sensitive folks. There’s also Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is a stable form of Vitamin C, albeit near the end of the ingredients list.

Nowascorbic acid is easily destabilized by light and oxygen, which is why most Vitamin C serums come in dark airtightbottles.I was wondering why this came in a clear bottle, but due to its “hybrid stabilizationtechnology” (whatever that means), the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop has improved stability and shelf-life compared to other ascorbic acid products. It must be working, because after 2 weeks the serum is still crystal clear.

Application & Experience

*

Droppers are nice because you can control how much you want to use, and you definitely don’t want to go overboard with this because it has a slightly thick oily feeling to it, despite being super watery. This product is just full of surprises and oxymorons, isn’t it?

*

Due to its texture and the low ascorbic acid %, I don’t treat this like an active, butrather as a serum. Since it feels heavierthan most of my other serums, I use about 2-3 drops all over my face at the end of my serum step, right before I apply actual facial oils and moisturizer.

It absorbs rather quickly despite its texture but it does leave my face quite shiny. So to prevent the frying pan effect in the mornings, I mix 1-2 drops with my moisturizer instead, which actually helps with the application of both products. There’s still a slight shine, but it goes away after a while.

Oilinessaside, the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Dropdoes a good job of helping my skin retain its moisture and softness. After using it for 2 weeks I noticed my face wasn’t feeling as dry, and some of the redness that I had in my cheeks had gone away. I also noticed some subtle brightening, though that could be attributed to my increased usage in sheet masks (my dry skin really needed them).
